Why are Values so Important?

Dear CSS Members and Colleagues: Enclosed is an extensive analysis of why values are so important to an organization. This is sent with the permission of my HBS Classmate, Marcus Bieschke, as he developed this document in the context of a international project we are doing for a Not-For-Profit Organization that has a performance Gap. You can think about this in the broader context of where you work and then ask how you can help your organization with their focus if they have a performance gap. Without a clear understanding of your Values you can’t possibly create a strategy. You can also consider this in the context of your own life and ask how you are strategizing in the context of your own

Discovering Your Authentic Leadership

Dear CSS Members and Colleagues: As some of you may know I am currently at Harvard Business School and while I’ll have a lot to share later, this article was so impactful I felt it important to share with you all. Each of us is shaped by our past experiences and our ability to be introspective and learn from our successes and our failures. Indeed, the greatest leaders have a great capacity to be truly “Authentic”. Take some time to read this and I’m sure you may find you can improve as a leader in your organization by following the clear message offered by the authors. Kind Regards, Jon JP Warner, MD Founder, The Codman Shoulder Society

Avant-Garde Healthcare's Fourth Annual Value Improvement Summit

Dear CSS Members: Enclosed is a short recap of the fourth Annual Value Improvement Summit of Avant-Garde Healthcare. You may recall I posted on them last year. It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with them as next year’s CSS Meeting will have as its focus a section on Measurement to improve value. Kind Regards, JP Warner, MD

Val d'Isere Shoulder Course 2019

Dear CSS Members: I wanted to make you aware of one of the best shoulder educational programs in the world. This is near and dear to my heart as I have been a part of it since 2001. Unfortunately, I have a conflict with my executive program at Harvard Business School so I can’t go this year. But you all should take a look at the program and really consider how much it will offer to you, and more importantly your patients. I hope you attend as this only comes around once every 2 years.
