The Joy Gap
Dear CSS Members and Colleagues:
Enclosed is a simple graph which has to do with the concept of Joy in your work. I was surprised to see this but perhaps most of you are an exception to this. Given the evolution of healthcare as it becomes more of a business than a calling, we have seen a markedly increased awareness of “Burn Out”. From my viewpoint, burnout is directly related to the feeling of loss of control and loss of sense of value to an organization. Perhaps the “Joy Gap” is a reflection to this. The antidote is to find ways to feel purposeful and valued. I thought the group might be interested to consider this concept.
Kind Regards,
